Speaker 1:

Hello. My name is Bailey Yeager, and I used to work with Callie on Honest HR. Callie and I started this show knowing little about creating a podcast but understanding there were good stories to be told: yours. We met in November 2017, and less than three months later, we were working on Honest HR together. I got to know Callie through the recordings along with you. Let me tell you; she was the same Callie in person as she was on the recordings: smart, fun, determined, and real.

On September 12th, 2019, the host of Honest HR and our beloved friend and colleague Callie Zipple passed away shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. She was 32. Callie pursued big ideas relentlessly. She was brave and authentic and brought that to every episode of Honest HR. She dreamed up the podcast in a moment and pursued it feverishly until she made it a reality and later a big success.

Callie was wise beyond her years, extraordinarily passionate, and full of life. Her ability to connect with people through episode recordings was not surprising. She was the type of person that made friends everywhere she went.

When we started this project, I never thought about how much myself and Callie's friends and family would treasure these recordings. I'm so thankful to have them and to be able to listen to the spirit in her voice. What a gift this podcast is, both for holding onto her memory and giving more people the chance to know her. Thank you for listening and fueling our passion.

I recently went through Callie's Instagram posts, @shrmcalliez, if you're interested, and found one from New Year's this year. She wrote, "I'm committing to not waiting to telling people how great they are, how much they have impacted my life when they make me smile, that they matter." I don't assume to know what Callie would want. But when I saw this post, I thought, "I bet this is something Callie would say on Honest HR. To honor Callie, I'd suggest we all take this good advice. All of us at SHRM miss Cali, and we'll always cherish her memory. Please stay tuned to know more about the future of Honest HR.
